about quality...

Postby gastritis » Thu Jul 26, 2007 12:14 pm

:!: Guys! I want to make a proposition.
I think it would be just great if everyone type something about quality of the files he posts - at least size and (important :!: ) bitrate! Thus, people can compare and choose more freely. For example, I'd download an album if it was at a higher bitrate than the same album I have already, but if not - why to download doubles?
Well, I hope you get what I mean ohyeah!

I understand what you're saying. Yes it could be helpful. Normally when I see a file is huge (more than 90 MB for one CD) I just know the bitrates must be large also. You don't exactly know how big but at least 192 or more. That's enough for me. Sometimes I would download an album at 320 that I already have in a less format, but only when the 'old' album is 128 or less or...when it's an absolutely must have in my opinion.

It's also a financial issue =D Empty disks are cheap but with the total amount of CD's I'm using it's still a lot of money...

At 320 bit rate that is about 1/5 the size of a CD. If someone has a lot of CD's that takes up a lot of HD space.

There is very little difference between 128 & 320 for an adult. A person's hearing hearing gets worse as one gets older from exposure to all kinds of noise.

Rip a file at 5 different bit rates. Have someone play the files randomly. you'll be guessing at the bitrate. 128 is fine.

Whatever the issue--speed, hearing, HD or upload size, & etc.--we all have our issues. Just list the simple bitrate (320 bps & etc.) and let the downloader decide.
