I'm David from California USA, and I joined about 2 weeks ago (early November). I've been a major music fan all my life -- I still have the first LP (yes, vinyl) I was given as a child: LET'S ALL SING WITH THE CHIPMUNKS. You can say that collecting recordings is my obsession.

I still have LP's, 45's, cassettes (not 8-tracks, though... hee hee hee), and even old 78's. Then, there are the CD's (which seem to have a life of their own), not to mention now digital (mp3's).

I love all kinds of music and genres, though not much rap or metal rock. I have a decided leaning toward jazz vocals, with touches of swing at times.

That's me, basically... oh, I'm almost ½ a century old.... LOL!

That screen name came about years ago when I was trying to get a Yahoo screen name. Every name I tried was taken, and it wanted to add various numbers... I got frustrated, and thought, "This is an exercise in futility", hence Futileexercise was born... (a friend got one when his dog threw up on his carpet, and in his frustration he used Puppybarf, and that stuck).
