Well, guys, here I go: my name is Denis. Though I'm Russian, I was born 31 years ago in vast and dusty Kazakhstan (a part of the Soviet Union at that time), where summers are hot and dry and fluttering winters freeze your bones. But for last 12 years I've been living in Kiev, Ukraine. Here I live with my lovely girlfriend and the cleverest dog I've ever seen - it looks almost like this one -> :dog:
I've always been listening to rock music - from russian rock bands through blues and psychedelic groups of 60s to black and grind bands of 90s - maybe that's why I wrote (just for myself) about 150 poems and even about 30 songs in acoustic :play: (But only my friends know about that)) And this "long and winding road", hehe, has led me to the great realm of jazz and, for last 7 months, to swing. So, I'm back at the roots of all music in the world now and I love it!! )) Wish all of you starry heaven and clear warm sea with blue mountains at the horizon=)))

P.S. Sorry for my english :D

Good to meet you folks--it has been neat to see this swingin' discussion coming from all over the world.

I'm 33 & right now live in a former copper mining town about 5 miles from the Mexican border. Got into swing around age 15 when I started digging through my dad's record collection (he'd a big fan of stuff recorded between 1935 & 1947). Seems like the more music I hear, the more I want to hear--over the years I've developed a taste for other jazz (Mingus!) & indie rock (Pavement!) but swing always gets my feet tapping.

Hello everyone!

My name is Mredondo. I'm 37yrs old, from N. California. I am married with a 5yr old son -Noah and 11month old twin boys - Dylan & Logan. They are the future rockabilly trio - The Redondo Boys!! I am a graphic artist for a major newspaper corporation. I've listened to music since I was a kid. I would buy records at garage sales - Beach Boys "Surfin' Safari", "Grease", Led Zeppelin, and a lot of oldies record compilations. I've always had a love for music and art. I have an IPod on all day at work listening to music. I play music in the house, in the car, in the babies room, etc... and I too LOVE MY LIFE!! I'm an "Average Joe", but my wife, kids , family and friends make me feel like the luckiest guy in the world!!

I thank you all for being so friendly. I especially thank those to share!! Without those who share - there would be no forum.

Rock On!!

Best regards from sunny California, USA

Hey brother - we got N. Cali represented here!! How'd you end up in KY? I was in Fl for about 5yrs, all through highschool and a few years after that, but I'm a west coast kid and came home in 1991 and haven't left since.

Best regards and enjoy the "candy",

You can call me Baron. I'm 49. I've lived on the East Coast to the West Coast, north and south. I'm smack dab in the middle of Ohio right now.
I've travelled from Korea to Australia and many places in between.
I live for the joy of seeing musicians play music. Nothing is better than to feel the energy that is created between musicians and dancers when you ar eboth in "the zone" and they play around with the music to see what you do with the dance, and you paly around with the dance to see how they react with the music. It is a live energy that is only created in that moment. I live to find that moment.
I have the luck to be in the U.S. so I can see many of the bands that are discussed here. I hope to add reviews of shows I go to, and tell stories of shows I've been to.
Once I figure out how to do it I have some things to share that many of you have never heard before.
Gotta Stay Cool

Hi there, everyone...
Yeah, I know...better later than never, though...

So this is Bruno Murai, from São Paulo either. I'm 23 yo, I love drawing, boxing and I'm a soccer fan (btw, your River can't beat my São Paulo since 2003, Berni...! lol). lalala

I don't live that close to Interlagos (actually, I live way far from there, lol), but that's no problem at all for me to stop by and have a (lot of) beer  with u all good people. And to be completely honest, I hate racing too... what's so fun about it anyway?! :?:

Well, that's it, I guess.
I was pretty busy and couldn't be around much lately...but I'm trying to keep up with you, guys...hehe.

I know Brasil and Argentina are the top nowadays when we're talking about soccer but let me remind you my club Ajax from Amsterdam (in that small country called the Netherlands in Europe) won the worldcup for clubteams twice! Last time in 1995 from Gremio and in 1972 from Independiente Argentina!

And Amsterdam is the home of the greatest soccerplayer of all time: Johan Cruyff! :bigband:

I'm David, 35yo. I live in Sweden but came here from the USA, where I've lived in the middle, in the northwest, in the southwest, in the east and in the deep south.

Not much to tell, really. I teach at the university here, like cooking and mixing alcoholic beverages (feel free to schtop by for a *hic* drink). And I love all different kinds of music!

Larry here. Hey y'all. I'm 50, been loving swing, western swing, blues, jump blues -- well, all kinds of music, since I was a little kid back in the 1960s. Pleasantly surprised to see so many youngsters (30-somethings) into this kind of music. New here, diggin' it big time.

My RIVER is the most.... Na na na, I´m joking. We can´t win anything :eww: :eww: :eww: :eww: :eww:

I´m so sorry. Is my post. I wasn´t signed in.

Hi everyone, it's a pleasure to meet you all!

I'm Stan, 28 from Moscow, Russia. I loved swing since I was a kid, still remember myself at the age of 7 listening to Billie Holiday.
Then as I got older I was into hippie stuff and 50's rock'n'roll, and suddenly in 1997 I stumbled across some pirate compilation with "You the Boss" and "Dirty Boogie" by Brian Setzer. Gee I was amazed.
Some years later I got wired and wow - wondrous spirit of neo swing stood upon me. So my fate was decided.
Those were the days of mp3.com and Audiogalaxy and gee - each night was an adventure.
Somehow I've met a girl on some swing-addicts forum, who later become my wife. Two freaks have found each other. aeae
Now she has a weekly FM radio show (strictly swing music. what else?) and I have an IT job.

Okay, guys and gals, I'm taking over as the senior member here at 59!

I am Elaine, and I live in Georgia in the US. My international friends, please know that it will be better after January 20, 2009!!!

I am a musician by avocation, and an academic librarian by vocation. I like all genres except opera, but I use the Opera browser when I'm not at work. I play guitars and keyboards, though, as I said, not professionally, and I've actually taken swing dance lessons in the recent past. We occasionally go to area swing dances, and have a great deal of fun.

Being from the South, I do indeed drink too much (on occasion) as my avatar will attest =D and laugh too loud, but, hey, it comes with the territory! =D =D

This is a delightful board, and I'm glad to be here!

Hey! :hat:

one of the youngest here! I'm 23, a music fan for my whole life, an audiophilic for 'bout 4 years, always liked Jazz and Blues, but I started REALLY diggin it a few years ago!

I'm trying to brainwash my girlfriend and take off the MTV out of her teenage brain (16 turning 17 next month), and put some REAL music in there! hahaha If she'd only had her father's rock and roll taste! hahahahaa

well, I'm from Umuarama - Paraná - Brazil (that's a city and the next, a State), it's a small town, with virtually NO culture and I desperatelly NEED internet to keep in touch with the things I like! :eww:

great forum, with real smart people, really enjoy it!

:hat:
It's all 'bout the music!!!!

It's nice to see there are more real cats at the forum! There are to little rockabillyfans here at the moment in my opinion (well, members who actually post I mean). But on the other hand there are some real great guys (and girls) talking about Swing/Jazz/Blues etc and these are also great musicstyles to share. So I'm not complaining...(much)

By the way: you've got a hell of a car!

Hi guys!
I'm Ilya from Moscow (Russia), almost 21.
I'm a little bit lindy hop dancer and harmonica player. Fan of black-white photography and 30's swing music. Love early bluegrass, western swing, blues, swing, rockabilly, ska and what not.
It's great to have so much different people with same interests here!
