Posting somebody else's upload

Postby swankyb0y » Thu Jul 12, 2007 11:24 am

I'm just wondering if it's okay to post uploads by other people and taking all the credits after his hardship. i believe some of us here (including me :D ) had posted someone else work by getting (or others might call that stealing  ) the download link from the original blogger's website. i know that on the otherhand it could be helpful for the original uploader for the reason that his/her download link would not expire. [example is rapidshare, if nobody downloads the file you uploaded within 30days, then your upload will be deleted] in that case you're helping the uploader to extend the lifespan of his uploaded file. but , here comes again the question. should i take the credits for posting somebody's work? i recently found some good music collections from other people blogsites and i dunno if it's okay to share their posts to fellow anyswing members. or perhaps it would be better to download their posts and reupload them on sharebee/massmirror instead of linking it to the original uploader's link. aeae i really don't know what should be done, just my thoughts ohyeah!

I believe that it's ok to use somebody else's links as long as the album really fits on the Anyswing categories and the source is mentioned.

Reupping would be amazing too, cuz it's rediculous how people still ignore the amazing existence of MassMIrror and Sharebee.

But if you aint got the time for a reup, simply paste the post and mention where it's been taken from.

No one owns a link, not even the uploader. Sharing is key. So, screw leechers and screw selfish people.

Hi, all!
I guess I should jump in here and express my opinion on leeching, since it's happened to me in the past few weeks, once here and twice at another forum. My position on leeching is simple: I don't do it, I will not do it, I've never done it and I will not tolerate it. "Nuff said!

If you find something on a blog or forum and you like it or want to share, the
answer is simple, just download it, zip it, uploaid it and post it. Too time-consuming you say? It certainly wasn't time-comsuming for the original poster!

If I see any of my links (and they're real easy to spot) onanother blog or forum , I report the offender to the moderator who usually issuues a warning to the offender and it he continues to leech, he will be banned, at least that how it is at the other fourm (and most forums I belong to). I occasionally delete my original link and re-up with a new link to my blog.

This appears to be very sensitive issue with most blogs/forums. Some tolerate it, even condone it. And others like me have no time for it.

Well, there, I got that off my chest. Thanks for listening!

My feeling on this subject is ..if you find something of interest on another blog that you think the readers of this forum would find interesting, you have two choices: (1) download it and re-up in sharebee or massmirror before posting it here (2) if you are too lazy to do that, then link to the page in the blog where the album is, and mention that you found it there in your review.

I did the later in one of my posts because I did not want to take the time to re-upload a 5 album set.

Whatever you do, don't just link to the download link from the blog. I can understand how the blogger can get upset, because it is a very time consuming process to upload.

Of course this doesn't apply if you own the blog, and want to post your links here. Another possibility is to ask the blogger if it is ok to use their link. I think the best way is to use one of my previously mentioned 2 approaches.

I agree it is leechy to just cut and paste someone's link...I alway re-upload to sharebee or massmirror if I use someone else's files. It's just polite. The file I shared from eldiablotuntun.blogspot.com is a good example, I downloaded it, really enjoyed it, then re-uploaded it and shared it, my link, eldiablo's original file, but shared from my collection. Pass along a good thing...I've had artwork ripped off before, I put a lot of work into my art, and if the people had just emailed me and asked to use my image and gave me credit, I probably wouldn't say no. BUT when you rip off someone else's hard work, and don't acknowledge them...that is unethical!!!!

Look, I don`t know if It`s ethical or not.
I just post some others`s posts in others blogs because my connection is poor and I think that the post must be here for It quality music.
I suposse that the others blogs post that albums for SHARE. But If U don`t think like me, Our new rule could be:

"POST ONLY UPLOADED BY ANYSWING MEMBER, not from other blogs"

... and then Luiz must to delete half of post here.
Understand me?

Whit love, Berni...

Berni should be exempted, for having a very poor connection. imagine uploading a 1kbps aeae that's a lot of patience. he should have an incetive of posting whatever he likes ohyeah! is that ok berni? and also, i believe that there should be no problem posting somebody else's upload unless he/she's also a member of anyswing, and would react if you try to posts his/her uploads

He Berni, it explains why you like 'old' music that much...by the time you can finally listen to the music you have been downloading, years passed by... =D

but serious (I gotta be more serious...this is a very serious forum!) respect for what you're saying and what you have to do to for it. A little story to keep your spirit up: There was a guy I knew who needed reading glasses. He said it was great because normally he read everything but now he had to find his glasses first. Therefore he didn't picked up every newspaper article but only the things he really wanted to read. :play:

But whatever happened stay at the forum and don't let your spirit down! I'm a big fan of you! :hat:
