Barbershop Music Anyone?

Postby Staubfinger » Tue Apr 29, 2008 6:36 am

One of the great American music traditions are the barbershop choirs, usually groups of four men, using mostly only their voice to make music. It's incredible difficult to find their CDs and importing really costly. So if someone could come up with something from a member of the noble "Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America", that would be great. I stumbled upon a group from Quebec called "Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer", not an barbershop group, more influenced by the traditional French a capella style, but nevertheless I will include them in my request. And if you have some of the wonderful American choirs to throw in the mix, that would be appreciated, too.

Check the Irving Berlin thread in the "Classic Jazz, Swing and Big Bands" forum. I just posted a batch of barbershop from my big bag o' Berlin.
