In order to cut down on clutter, included this 2nd disc in the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra thread--so you can get the link there.

Thanks a lot Uhwelluh ! That's a great shot. I enjoy so much that kind of work! They really know what they're talking about! Gunther SCHULLER is such a fantastic author. I've learned so much with his books Early Jazz and Swing Era...
The orchestra is tremendous and I really dig their rendition of "Daibreak Express" which might be very hard to play right.

Thanks a lot ! I mean it.

Glad you're enjoying those recordings HideHoMan--they're special to me, so it's great to be able to share them with other fans. I hope someday the Smithsonian sees fit to do some more commercial releases. There's more to come. I agree with you about Daybreak Express--that seemed to be a particular favorite of the band as well--I can remember 4 or 5 different concerts where they played it (or maybe they just really wanted to make sure they got it right!) I got the feeling that Gunther Schuller was really thrilled to be able to hear so many of the pieces he loved brought back to life.
