Seeking for Earl Hines

Postby Alfaspica » Mon Aug 06, 2007 12:36 pm

I'm seeking an tune by Earl Hines.

This search is very difficult because I don't remember
the title. Maybe it has the words "blues" and/or
"devil".

I've registered that tunemany years ago
on a tape, but the tape is cancelled today.

I sure was Earl Hines.

sure is an jazz-blues.

the time when it was recorded, I think, is the 50s

very important, there was an interval
with a solo of double bass played with bow
(played like an cello...)

Ah, I think it's Earl Hines, but I'm not very sure...
after all this year, but sure is a piano style like Earl.

Thanks in advance!

You don't make it easy, do you? =D

Earl Hines did several songs with the word blues in the title. So that didn't help really. He actually did a quite famous song with the word devil in it (up jumped the devil) but that's more an uptempo and not a bluestune...

he also did a song Between The Devil And The Deep Blues Sea...that sounds familiar to you?

A solo double bass isn't very rare so...I don't know this is the one...anybody else has a suggestion? ohyeah!

Hmmm... I have various versions
of "Between the Devil", not of Earl Hines
but I think that isn't it because is pretty swinging
like theme.

The tune that I remember is more similar
to "St. James infirmary", just in the version
of Earl Hines... like tempo and sound.

Very heavy and sad.

But with a solo of double bass played
with bow.

For this particular, the bow, I think the tune
is by the 50s, or later.

Yes Dan, I like difficult things!

I'm searching for a song called "The Boy With The Wistful Eyes". Anyone here have it?
