Suggestion regarding compilations

Postby jeffbhappy » Sat Jul 14, 2007 7:08 pm

I just had a difficult decision to make, and, combined with some previous difficulty I have had finding things here, I offer this suggestion.

My decision involved where to post a compilation of R&B. If you are looking for R&B, you might not look in the compilation folder, so I just didn't think it was quite right to bury it there, away from the eyes of people looking for R&B. But rules is rules, so I went with the compilation folder.

My previous difficulty is that its hard to find something if it can be listed in multiple places. That requires extra effort to make sure you have covered all the bases.

So here's my suggestion. Put the compilations in the compilation section, but also have a cross-reference to it in the appropriate music section. For instance, a listing of "The Birth of Rhythm and Blues" in the Compilation section would have a parallel entry in the R&B section that says "Birth of Rhythm & Blues" Compilation - See Compilation section.

Another way of simplfying the looking might be to have a listing of the pertinent compilations in each of the specific music sections.

Thanks for listening.

Jump Blues and R&B issues should be taken care of by Steve.
Thou I do agree.
A cross-reference should be important to identify. I will analyse it carefully.
